LOCAL VOLUNTEER NOMINATED FOR VOLUNTEER
AWARD Ginette Gagnon for dedication to Victims of Crime and Tragedy. On November 29th 2006, C.C.A.R.E.S. Victim Assistance named Ms. Ginette Gagnon, retiree and advocate for supporting victims of crime, as the Volunteer of the Year for the 3rd annual Volunteer of the Year Award. As a volunteer, Ginette has donated over 2522 hours to victim assistance, this past year. She has helped lessen the trauma of being victimized, helped people cope with the impact of crime and encourage victims to connect with local community services for long term counseling and assistance. The Volunteer of the Year Award honors extraordinary C.C.A.R.E.S. volunteers who serve the county of Hastings, Prince Edward and Lennox & Addington. In November, the service gathers all the hours’ volunteers donate and calculates who has given the most time for the calendar year. C.C.A.R.E.S. Victim Assistance will honor Ginette Gagnon and all our volunteers at a special recognition event November 29th at 6 p.m. at the River Inn in Corbyville. Volunteers like Ginette help people that have suffered death of a loved one, fires, property crime, domestic violence and homicide, to name just a few. Victim Assistance is provided by carefully selected and trained community volunteers. These volunteers are on call to all policing and emergency services 24 hours a day, seven days a week. C.C.A.R.E.S. volunteers donate over 12,499 hours annually. Volunteers are the heart of our service. Without our volunteers help, we could not serve you or your community.
